Never before have we successfully combined both the UP and the Lower Peninsula of Michigan in one pendant. This combination is sturdy, crisp and nearly geographically accurate.

Petoskey stone is a fossilized coral, the state stone of Michigan and is commonly found along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron in the United States.

It was formed by the fossilization of ancient coral, hexagonaria. These corals lived in warm shallow seas that covered Michigan during Devonian time, some 350 million years ago.

Copper firebrick is a byproduct from the copper mining days in the Upper Peninsula from around 1845 until around 1887. At the time Michigan was the nation's leading producer of copper. Copper firebrick is made from the old furnace chimney bricks from the copper processing. The copper would become vaporous once heated and would permeate the porous firebricks of the chimney. Copper firebrick is a very limited resource, with hardly any remaining.
