Petoskey stone is a fossilized coral, the state stone of Michigan and is commonly found along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron in the United States.
Leland Blue is a glassy/slag by-product of iron smelting that happened there in the 1870's. Used to fortify the original Leland Pier, it now washes ashore as a modern day treasure.
Frankfort Green is a glassy/slag by-product of iron smelting that happened there in the 1870's.
It was formed by the fossilization of ancient coral, hexagonaria. These corals lived in warm shallow seas that covered Michigan during Devonian time, some 350 million years ago.
Leland Blue is a glass slag iron smelting byproduct from the smelting done in Leland by the Lake Superior Iron Company in the 1870's. The blue slag was used to fortify the original pier in Leland, which is no longer there. Now the blue washes up on the beaches as a modern day treasure.
