Ruth Hogan Krzyzowski paints inspired by a love of the beautiful landscapes she’s been fortunate to spend time in -- mountains and canyons, oceans, lakes, and rivers. She paints as a way to remind ourselves of all the beauty in our natural world. In order to support the preservation of natural lands in northern Michigan, she has sold notecards of her paintings, and donated the proceeds to the Little Traverse Conservancy in Emmet County. Ruth enjoys the puzzle of trying to capture the essence of a landscape in a painting. She aims for a blend of rich, Impressionistic texture in a simple, Zen-like composition. She admires artists who walk the line between disciplined depth and playful looseness, and strives for that balance in her work.
Ruth paints in oil, gouache, and pastel & ink.
