"Rift" Lake Superior was formed by rifting and sculpted and filled by receding glaciers. Photographed in copper country in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan's U.P. One of my favorite places to photograph especially in fall. The landscape here lends to darker tones and mysterious beauty. The Keweenaw was home to several large scale copper mining operations that boomed in the 19th and 20th centuries however copper mining in this region dates back thousands of years.

Photographed on Fuji Velvia 50, Color Slide Film, Limited Edition of 300.
